At just 18 years old, Alice Wetterlund set out for New York City, New York. There, she attended a private college called Cooper Union that focuses on science and the arts. Again, little-to-nothing is known about Alice Wetterlund during this time.

We know that she was attending college, but the degree that she earned – or if she even graduated – is unclear. But what we do know is that she hit the stand-up comedy scene almost a decade after moving to New York City. There, she started earning her chops and finding out what it means to compete in the most competitive comedy scene arguably in the world.

Alice Wetterlund entered the crazy and wild world of New York City stand-up in the late 2000s. Likely right around when she was finished with her education. She then joined the Upright Citizens Brigade improve troupe in 2008, which is a huge fucking deal for her career.

Why is that a big deal? It has produced some of the most famous comedians of the last 20 years, such as Amy Poehler, Aubrey Plaza, Donald Glover, and others. It’s highly influential, so having that kind of experience on your goddamn resume is a huge ass deal!

Alice Wetterlund appears on television

It certainly was a big fucking deal for Alice Wetterlund! The experience at the Upright Citizens Brigade allowed her to audition for a brand-new television show premiering on the channel MTV at the time. It was called Girl Code: a spin-off of the show Guy Code that featured dudes discussing what it means to be a guy. Girl Code took the same concept and flipped it for women.

Therefore, Girl Code was, as you can probably guess, all about what it means to be a women as told by women. It was funnier than it sounds, though. Part of that is thanks to Alice Wetterlund’s ideas.

One such idea that was doing the rounds in 2014 featured a parody of an ad. The ad featured an actress that doesn’t know she’s actually doing an ad for a diarrhea commercial. The commercial parody features the actress selling a probiotic that would keep women from shitting all over themselves when they have diarrhea.

Uniquely enough, her ad parody on Girl Code led Alice Wetterlund to getting gigs on a fuck ton of commercials for American television. Throughout the 2010’s, you most likely saw Alice Wetterlund at least several times and didn’t even notice. But it all culminated in the mid-2010’s when she had her first big break in a film that was plagued with controversy at the time.

Alice Wetterlund finds mainstream success

Though Alice Wetterlund found quite a bit of success on the television show Girl Code, her first official break came in 2014 in the film The Interview. It’s about two dinguses interviewing North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, which caused real-life tension between the United States and North Korea. It even resulted in alleged North Korean hackers breaching Sony Pictures – the publisher of The Interview – and fucking some shit up.

But in the midst of all of that, Alice Wetterlund had her first official break in the film. Though viewers probably didn’t notice her as she was in the movie briefly, it was nonetheless the big break she was aiming for. The next year in 2015, Alice Wetterlund would undoubtedly have her best year to date.

2015 saw her winding up Girl Code as well as appearing on popular shows like New Girl and Chelsea Lately. But it was her role on the HBO comedy Silicon Valley that would help her to gain more eyeballs than ever before. No, not literal eyeballs: I mean more people would see her than ever before thanks to Silicon Valley, you dumb ass.

Alice Wetterlund played the role of Carla Walton on the second season of Silicon Valley. It was a huge fucking deal, giving her the chance to appear on popular talk shows of the era like @Midnight and get her name out there even more. Her success continued into 2016, when she landed a role on her first regular television series.

Alice Wetterlund’s continued success on television

Alice Wetterlund got her first regular role on the TBS sitcom People of Earth. She played the role of Kelly Grady: a member of the alien abductee support group StarCrossed. She has a dead end job at a funeral home, and ends up running into the alien that abducted her originally.

People of Earth ran for a total of two seasons and was met with fairly positive reviews. It was by all accounts a fairly decent show, and it helped Alice Wetterlund to gain even more notoriety.

The gigs kept coming in! Alice Wetterlund had a decent part in the film Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates in 2016, which unfortunately was a steaming pile of dog shit. Alice Wetterlund would continue to start in one-off appearances for several years.

Making temporary appearances on shows like GLOW, Single Parents, Space Force, and others, it may have seemed like Alice Wetterlund was destined to bounce around from show to show without landing another one of her own. But that would all change in 2021 with the premiere of yet another sci-fi sitcom, Resident Alien. As time will probably tell, it could end up being one of her most highly regarded roles of her career.

Resident Alien premiered in January 2021. Although it took a few episodes for momentum to pick up, it was met with critical acclaim by the end of the first season. Alice Wetterlund played (and still does as of this review) D’arcy Bloom: best friend to supporting character Sara Tomko. Together, the two of them deal with an extraterrestrial learning how to be human by taking the role of the town’s physician after his death.
