Porn Tube

In the past, I’ve posted on just about everything from interviews I’ve had with new and established erotic entertainers. I have blogged about some of the hottest free videos of elite performers. I’ve even done awesome guides on how to get started as a webcam model or a porn performer for women and men.

However, one thing I’ve never written too much about is how to make money in the sex business when not on camera. A while back, I jokingly considered doing a write up on how to make an escort website.

But then I realized the legal shitstorm I could find myself. And when you’re a guy who’s as good-looking as me and an incredibly tight, virgin asshole, the idea of being locked-up is terrifying.

Instead, I thought it would be a good idea to talk about how to set up the format for fap films I blog most about: porn tube site creation.

There are several ways to get started which have there own challenges

Trying to stand out in such a saturated space can be tricky, but you do it right, you can get a bunch of web traffic and convert that into decent money.

To start out, jot down what kind of content you want to promote and what kind of niche you want to attract. Yeah, I’m sure it’s tempting to want to be as broad as possible, but since the big guys like PornHub dominate the market, specialization is a much better route to go.

Once you’ve got an idea as to what you want your users to upload, then structure your icon, logos, and other graphics on that theme. Just like the web design itself, be as creative as possible. On the note of web design, I’d pick a service like Wix or WordPress.

They are both easy to use and simplify the headache of managing content – i.e., user video and photo uploads. Those services and others have reasonable monthly rates, though you should stay away from free hosting deals. They’ll riddle your pages with spam and rip off some of the money you could be making.

If you don’t have that much talent in the way of being tech-savvy and you have the money, hiring a guru or a team of developers. Companies that can help you with that and also specialize in porn site construction include X Market Place and Porn Site 4 U.

Once the platforms’ up and running, then work like mad to get content. Obviously, you are going to want as many new uploaders to post as possible. With the right marketing strategy, anyone can find slutty folks who are super excited to exhibit themselves.

To get your platform off the ground, you can embed – not download and re-post (!) – existing websites to your pages. It’s free, it’s legal, and most tubes make it an easy thing to go about doing.

You can make money, for sure results, but will vary

monetize

I could promise that you’re going to start getting gold once your porn platform goes live, but as much shit as I talk, I’m no bullshitter. As with most e-commerce projects, getting started and starting recoup your investment is going to take several weeks, if not months.

And given how competitive this space is, you still might fall flat on your face, figuratively speaking. No matter how good your idea is, set your expectations low and plan on doing this sort of thing for the long-haul.

But to be a little optimistic, depending on your rate of traffic, design choices, the quality of your users’ uploads, and how well you monetize, you could make quite a bundle. To give you some kind idea of what to expect, getting 2,000 hits a day could make you five to fifty dollars US.

Keep with it long enough, and you might be one of those lucky few who bring in six figures a month. While that may sound like a pipedream, xVideos, for example, gets more hits than CNN.com, DropBox, even Twitter.

Remember, I ain’t a lawyer – however, I do suggest you get one

Nowadays, it seems like no one can set up an honest business without having to worry about all the many regulations. Even me, being the genius entrepreneur that I am, have structured my projects on government rules.

Come to think of it, since my sites are available globally; I’ve got a whole ‘nother list of things to worry about.

With that put out there, before you launch your website, check with an attorney over any disclaimers you need to make as well as getting help when it comes to writing your terms of service.

Be wary of adding too many ads, hackers, and cyber pirates

ads

If there’s anything I have more than poorly designed webpages, it’s one which is covered in adverts, and I’m sure you agree. It does make sense to monetize your traffic, but don’t overdo it with that commercial banners, and invest time into preventing pop-ups from plaguing your site.

As I said in the last section, you’re going to want to get some legal assistance. The biggest obstacle to running a porn site that doesn’t get shut down is the problem of internet piracy. Maybe this is a factor a lot of internet business people had to worry about a decade ago, but these days that’s not optional.

Even with the internet’s seeming anonymity, governments the world over are taking DMCA claims more seriously. Remember, when it comes to running a tube, you’re on the hook. Even if you can’t be tracked down for fines, your site will probably get blocked in several jurisdictions: that means less traffic and less money.

Don’t forget to optimize your site for mobile devices

There is one thing I always harped on when doing the articles for ThePornDude reviews. No matter what kind of site that it was, be it a cam platform, literotica site, and adult forums, I have always commented on how a website looked on mobile.

Hell, that was probably without exception the thing I would fixate on when rating adult websites. The reasons for this are numerous, but the biggest one is the percentage of internet traffic being accessed via handheld machines.

When it comes to mainstream websites, it’s estimated that 50% of people get access on their mobile devices. Further, up to 80% of people watch porn on their handheld gizmos.

To sum up, no matter what kind of tube design you opt for, make sure you or your fellow designers structure everything around being aesthetic on tablets, smartphones, etc.

Need more inspiration? Check out the tubes I’ve recommended

You don’t need to take everything I say as gospel, but you should stick to my general guidelines. However, I’m hardly the master when it comes to creating premium tubes.

I’m sure as you know, there are already dozens of successful tubes which often have their own special feature of some sort. So, to get inspired, I would take some time to look at what your favorite tubes look like and how they present their content.

To make everything easy for you all, I will shamelessly plug my list of the top tube sites. There you can direct links to ninety-six of them, complete with my professional commentary on how what makes them superb.

There’s one other feature I would add

cam

Thanks to modern internet speeds being fast and nearly universally available, just about everyone should be able to enjoy a webcam show. There’s a lot to love from a spectator’s standpoint and even more to get excited over when you think about how much additional money a webmaster might make.

For the purposes of brevity, I’m not going to get too deep into how to start up a webcam page specifically, but I will say that the process is about the same as setting up a tube when it comes to the fundamentals and options.

Whitelabels

One thing I would consider would be to consider using a whitelabel. This allows you to essentially do a rebrand of an existing webcam page. This allows you to slap your own logo, design work, and similar visual elements as if the tube site of your own.

The page auto-links viewers to an existing webcam page, so you don’t have to worry about finding talent, setting up you’re own TOS or most legal issues. The shitty thing about whilelabels is that the amount of money you get is pretty low, and you’re competing with everyone else who uses this service.

Pre-made or self-made webcam pages

Cam software packages are designed by professionals who will provide you with a basic structure for a site that will save you money and usually will run you an affordable monthly fee. Another thing to consider is building your webcam platform from scratch, which has its own ups and downs.

To look at the positives of both, this is a good route to go if you want to maximize profit and retain ownership over your subdomain. Furthermore, you can upgrade your cam pages indefinitely, set your terms.

The big problem is that this will take a lot of time, maybe even more than building a tube. Then there’s the issue of recruitment – good models can be hard to find. You’ll probably have to rely on a combination of SEO and paid marketing to improve your exposure.

This is going to require even more time and a significant amount of money, but there is plenty of free advice out there and recruiting new models. Advertising online is one option; another would be hitting up all of the people in your Tinder circle. 😉

PornDude’s final words

At present, I’m not looking to do more articles on tube sites or anything related to ThePornDude main site. However, that doesn’t mean I’ve officially retired from keeping those pages up to date.

So, if you end up building your own tube, a webcam platform, or something similar and it takes off, I would be interested. Who knows, your project might take off, and you’ll end up becoming the next MindGeek. If you’ve got that much confidence and start seeing success, I am more than interested in seeing and maybe even giving you a shootout on the blog.

Good luck to those of you whom I’ve inspired and to all of you share my stuff around and look forward to the next one.
