When High-Speed Internet Took Off, So Did Her Career

As those of you who have read my blog before, you know very well that a lot of pornstars have some pretty interesting, if not dramatic, entries into porn, and Kayden's backstory is surprisingly different.

When she graduated from high school, she worked two jobs, one of which involved giving people tours of a private ranch on horseback. One day, one of her favorite ponies bucked on a customer too hard (and no, for once, that is not a euphemism) and was going to be sold to a slaughter auction. Making only minimum wage, Kayden couldn't afford to pay for the horse, so her boyfriend suggested that she go into stripping.

Unsurprisingly, Kayden was damn good at riding poles. According to her, "I loved the attention, I loved the work, I loved the ritual of putting on makeup and picking out the outfits…" and, like a dream come true, she ended up buying the horse.

A couple of years after that, she was offered $30 to hear a talent agent's pitch, which convinced her to get in touch with magazine modeling professionals. As it turns out, her first gig was with Penthouse and then the cover of Hustler. If you can believe it, Kayden had initially not had an interest in porn and (supposedly) never even watched it, but the offers she was getting and seeing the men she would get to work with was too much to turn down.

In 2006, Kayden emerged in the erotic entertainment industry and within a matter of a year, appeared (and usually starred in) over a dozen movies for Vivid, the Twisty's Network, among others, and she eventually married one of her best scene partners, Manuel Ferrera.

She even turned up on an installment of Girls Gone Wild: Wrestling For Pussy in which she gets down and dirty with Paris Dahl in 2015. With all of that work, you might expect her to get some recognition from the industry, and she did, but not exactly how you would expect.

Only a few years into the business, she got noticed by the critics and received three nominations in 2009 for her work the year prior, including Female Performer of the Year. Every single year after, she was put up as a candidate to get at least one and as many as half a dozen accolades. She did get a fan award for Wildest Sex Scene and Best All-Girl Group Sex Scene at the AVN Awards in 2011.

But strangely, she never got an industry win for her acting, which sucks because, for a while, Kross stopped acting. But after all of that, she was not finished (she is Swedish, after all) and got into directing.

For a while, I was a little worried about Kayden's career. Not because her directorial work is good, not at all, as I have brought up already: it's fucking fantastic. It goes back to what she said in an interview with her spouse in 2014. In it, she said that between her life as a homemaker, a mom, and her husband being a "jealous person," she was stepping away from the industry. While it was thought that it was going to be permanent – and I genuinely had been enjoying her director flicks – it was a bummer to think that the end of the 2010s was forever.

You see, many people have come and gone when it comes to the porn industry, and when most people go, they leave forever. Sure, there are a few exceptions like Lisa Ann, but when Kayden announced her focus on directing I did not expect Kayden to go back into acting until all she announced she going to.

When I heard that she came back into the business I felt like I was on edge. I guess you could say that I was edging, and after a while, I literally was if you get my meaning.

Most of her new work was released on Digital Playground, of course, but made debuts on TRENCHCOATx, Mile High, and vixen.com. Probably under the advice of her husband, she appeared on the criminally underrated French studio Jacquie et Michel ELITE in '17. Taking advantage of the new technology, Kayden also started appearing on virtual reality sites like HoloGirlVR.com. Amazingly, Kayden continued working throughout the pandemic. Indeed, she also was one of the first people to film with the former Disney and SnapChat starlet Maitland Ward in 2021.
