Ron

It looks like there is another series of sexual assault allegations leveled at a celebrity. This time it’s not a politician, a priest, or someone in Hollywood, but it is someone involved in the entertainment industry. Nope, the multi-decade veteran Ron Jeremy Hyatt has been arrested and is in the middle of an ongoing trial due to many personal misconduct charges, sexual molestation, and worse.

The details have slowly been piling up over the decades, but now I think I finally have enough to go on to report on what’s happening.

This is where Jeremy is at now and how he got there

ron2

After being reportedly under investigation since 2017, Ron Jeremy was arrested initially on four counts of rape in June 2020. Following his arrest, between then up through to the end of July 2020, thirty more allegations have been presented involving the same or similar charges.

While not all of them seem to have ‘stuck’ so far, the total 24 accusers involve women as old as 54 and, in one case, a girl aged 15 between 2004 up to this year. Although he’s lost his original law team headed by Dante Rusciolelli, Jeremy pled not guilty to all charges.

With all of the allegations levied against him, Jeremy is facing anywhere between 250 years to doing a life sentence, and his bail was set at 6.6 million dollars.

What we know about the evidence in the case for and against Jeremy

ron3

When it comes to hard evidence, the only thing concrete we know really about Jeremy is that he’s a fucking hoarder. During the raid on his apartment in April of this year, the man’s home was a disheveled mess with junk packed throughout the one-bedroom flat and dying plants whithering in his kitchen.

Reports from the investigators reveal that they’ve found notes which read as steamy but hardly damning by themselves. One of the said notes read as “Don’t take women into bathrooms. If you are going to take [a] woman somewhere nice, you need to take her to a nice hotel and not make her feel gross in the bathroom.”

If you ask me, that would suggest that Jeremy clearly saying you should make a woman comfortable before you consensual get with her. Then, an unidentified person wrote another note, which read “he [most likely Jeremy] made me squirt.”

This hardly seems like something a victim would write about their attacker. Other than that, not much else has been revealed by the authorities other than the fact that Jeremy had tons of magazines and pictures in his pad, including those of the alleged victims.

So far it looks like the court of public opinion is a circus

ron4

I’m not sure why a court trial cannot be a place to determine the truth of a case, but people are already determining with certainty what has happened here.

As you would expect, all of the anti-porn types have written out articles condemning Jeremy for his actions, seemingly with the attitude that all of the accusers are correct. Many of these posts reporting on the charges are quotes of industry professionals who suggested that Ron was known to be overly sexually aggressive with women.

When the story started to break, social media was abuzz with support for Jeremy. Of course, most of them are fans who clearly have never come with arm’s length of the man. However, there are people, albeit with anecdotes, who have met, socialized, and worked with him.

For instance, animal rights activist Paulina Victoria claims to have known Jeremy since ’87 and says that he never acted in a predatory manner. Another apparently old contact who goes under the Twitter handle @HOFSLIMDRIVER claims she was Dennis Hofstadter’s limo driver. As she recounts, she multiple times picked Jeremy up and even dined with him a few times. Echoing Victoria and other friends of Jeremy, she said that he had “never crossed the line.”

Then there are the trolls out there who aren’t so much defending Jeremy but attacking the alleged victims. One of the accusers, adult performer Elle Hell, has said after she accused Jeremy of raping her, she’s dealt with people who are dismissing what she’s said since “we work in an industry where we are ‘whores.'”

To sum up, we’ve got another high-profile case that is degenerating into polarizing chaos.

Naturally, I’ve got my own opinion about the situation…sort of

metoo

For once, I don’t really have a strong opinion on this one way or the other, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take it seriously. As you all know, I don’t think we should take every assault accusation as automatically being true, but they should not be considered.

We are all aware of other high-profile cases from Bill Cosby to Michael Jackson to Harvey Weinstein in which celebrities have faced dozens of rape and molestation allegations. Depending on which of those cases you look at, not all of them were legit, but a few or several turned out to be.

Then again, there are cases, while they don’t typically make the news when a rape allegation isn’t based on anything. Further, given Jeremy’s height in the industry, he would be a juicy target for several special interest groups.

I mean, just think about what happened to Max Hardcore last decade. He was dragged into court on bullshit k*ddie porn charges but convicted instead of unconstitutional obscenity charges. Following that trial, some anti-porn activists have cited Hardcore’s conviction on anti-obscene grounds as a club against the adult entertainment industry.

Still, false allegation rates are thought to be rare, but the percentage of times that this happens isn’t known. Furthermore, even if the bogus sexual assault rate is ten percent, given the sheer number of accusations against Jeremy, the odds don’t exactly look good for him.

There is also the fact that many of the accusers aren’t a bunch of convenient randos but women inside the industry who didn’t report Jeremy earlier because they feared his position in the business.

Given his history, there is a lot to consider

ron5

I’m reminded of interviews of long-time porn performers who have worked with Jeremy for decades like Nina Hartley, who have had nothing but glowing things to say about the man. As they have been working in the same tight-knit industry for so long, I think that people like Hartely surely would have heard and said something ages ago.

Then there’s the fact that we’re talking about a 67-year-old man who’s had more sex than most human beings on the planet. I realize that rape is about power, not sex. But it seems a little strange that a guy who had been consensual busting his load on porn sets for decades would have the energy to do much sexually offset.

On the other hand, Jeremy has a history of groping several women regularly. In those cases, it looks like the industry saw that the problem was severe enough to ban The Hedgehog from attending Exxxotica Expo.

Many of those accusers remain anonymous, but the most prominent personality to lead the charge against Jeremy was performer and webcam model Ginger Banks. Clearly, she has no grudge against the industry, and apparently, was inspired to get Jeremy booted after the Weinstein allegations broke.

No matter how you dice it, that history is not a good look for Jeremy’s case.

I’m waiting to see how the trial shakes out, but I have my suspicions, especially when it comes to the minor groping accusations. The prosecution is mounting quite a case, and Jeremy seems very confident in proving his innocence.

He was quoted as saying on Twitter…

“I am innocent of all charges. I can’t wait to prove my innocence in court! Thank you to everyone for all the support.”

Of course, all of those things prove squat by themselves. But I’m curious about what you guys think. Do you think that Ron Jeremy is guilty as they say, or this whole thing a setup? Or is this a mixed case to you?

Whatever you think, I’m curious as to why you believe that. I’m sure there will be more on this case to come out, so if anyone has any insider information or I missed something, let me know via email or my Twitter account.
