You run a webcamming site, but obviously, people are not just walking around the office naked. What is it like working in the JerkMate office?
None of the models actually work in our main office. That would be more than a little distracting for our technical team! The models all work from home at their own leisure at the rate they want.
Our main office, however, is a regular 9-5 business, and it’s a fast-moving place. A lot of different teams coordinating with each other, moving around, having meetings, sharing creative and technical ideas. There’s a lot of hustle and bustle – overall, a very high energy place!
I know that you have a lot of cam models, but when it comes to the people in the office, how many people work on JerkMate?
We have over a hundred people working in our main office at any given time, although they are not just JerkMate employees. We have a lot of big, innovative projects we’re working on.
When it comes to the models themselves, where do you find them? Do they earn good money, and if so, how much?
We don’t find the models; they find us.
They’re not really our employees either. Think of them the same as freelancers or indie contractors who work from home at their own leisure and earn as much as they work.
The more ambitious cam girls will stay on for longer, do wilder things, and interact with their audience more.
What makes up a strong team? What would you say is fundamental to crafting an efficient work environment?
A strong team needs strong players. Everyone working in the JerkMate office has a heavy background of high achievement in some area of expertise or another, and not always from the adult industry.
Due to their prior achievement, they were recruited to come to be a part of the success. Once they’re working and are a part of the team, we have strong coordination between groups. We earnestly believe in the “work hard, play hard” philosophy.
Most businesses have their own festivities, and I imagine you guys are no different. So let me ask, what do company celebrations at JerkMate look like?
The last celebration that took place, we rented out an entire island, all expenses paid.
It was an incredible experience just to show everyone what it means to make big things happen with hard work. A lot of the team was in disbelief, but we had a lot of fun. There was lots of delicious food, tropical weather, swimming, outdoor games, and drinks at night.
Clearly, JerkMate is a rising star in the world of adult entertainment. One would even say that your brand is now world-famous. When it comes to building up your business and the JerkMate brand, what were the biggest challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them?
There were a lot of technical obstacles to overcome in the beginning. Which mostly stemmed from scaling the number of visitors we can handle on our servers with the constant growth.
Our advertising teams and technical teams had to work closely, hand in hand with balancing the server load against all the new visitors coming in.
That was an especially tough time because we didn’t predict the success to come as fast as it did. However, now, we have more than enough server space to handle big growth spikes in the future.
What were the goals short- and long-term did you have when making JerkMate?
Well, to have short-term goals, you first need to have long-term goals and then work your way back.
The big idea behind Jerkmate was to become the world’s best-known cam site on the internet — best known and easiest to use.
From there, we had to inch forward in building the site well, promoting it well, making sure there are always models online for customers to interact with, and about a million other little things to consider.
When it comes to the future, is there anything interesting we can expect to come down the pipe? Are there any new features or something similar which will be added to the JerkMate experience?
We do have some big plans for JerkMate, yes. I can’t be too specific because I don’t want to ruin the surprises. But, just so fans know, we have a lot of new plans in the works that are going to increase the value people get out of using JerkMate.
We both know that establishing a great world-wide domain is tricky, almost impossible if you don’t know what you are doing. What would you say are the top three most significant factors that contributed to JerkMate’s massive online success?
Again, this comes down to having a massive vision and the team to carry it out, coordinate and execute it properly.
Our internal team is the biggest asset to creating the success we had with JerkMate. If I had to break it down I’d say:
- Massive vision
- Exceptional team
- The grit needed to carry out such a big goal.
You all are in the business of providing people with a platform to sell sex. Of course, you want as many new models to sign up and start presenting their own expression of sexuality. Since their success is your success, what advice would you give to someone who is trying to make it big in the online adult entertainment industry?
Never stop learning. You can be a natural at something, It’ll take you a certain distance, but if you rest on your laurels and stop learning new ways to improve your skills or marketing avenues, you’ll fall by the wayside eventually.
Also, having a determined mindset is important. Fears are just fears. Learning to let drop your fears and believe in big dreams, every step of the way will get you there.
The same could be applied to any endeavor people seek to create success in.
In my experience, everyone in adult entertainment has a story of some sort and usually a colorful one. So, what is yours exactly? When it comes to you and the other founders of JerkMate, what was it that got you you all started in the business?
It started many years ago back in the early 2000s when I and another small group of website owners created some online success in the adult industry. From there, we kept building and building. A lot of those same guys are now running companies just as large as ours.
Since you are running one of the largest adult camming sites on the web, there are probably several things which you enjoy about your line of work. I’m sure that you could list several things, but if you could try to whittle it down to one thing, that is your favorite thing about being in this line of work?
There’s nothing particular about adult entertainment that gets me sexually excited about work. It’s all business. So, what I love the most is the momentum we created, at this point in time there’s opportunity to create value to millions of people everywhere.
I wake up driven by that fact with a million ideas in different stages of completions every minute of the day. It’s a life filled with passion and drive. That’s what I love the most.
I can relate to that, but I can also say that even selling sex has its downsides. I think the same is true for you. When it comes to creating and maintaining a cam site, what is the thing about this industry which sucks the meat the most?
Sometimes it’s a little overwhelming, creating such a large impact in this industry, but keeping a positive mental frame guard against any doubts that come in.
Along with the bad, I’m sure there are a ton of regular things which you look forward to, and I need to ask – what gets you excited about Mondays?
I love Mondays; it’s a whole new week of moving things forward. I see it as a giant ship we’re sailing on; the goal is far ahead but visible through a spyglass, and each week we sail a little closer.
I understand that a lot of people have a lot of misconceptions about what it is that you do. I’ve even found that a lot of people don’t even think that we in the skin business have “regular” lives. Let me put a human face on JerkMate. What is it that you all do outside of work for fun?
I’m a family man. I have a beautiful wife and two kids. We do regular family things — eating at restaurants, trips to the park, beach. Although the wife sometimes complains, I’m on my phone too much even during those times.
