Failed 1

Some people in the arousal business stay in for a few months or a couple of years. In most of those cases, they make decent money and even get a following. Others stay in the industry for much longer than that and might end up in one of two places.

A rare breed of sex experts not only make bank but promote their brand in the business and outside of it. In other instances, porn pros stick in the business long enough to see themselves become the villain.

There are plenty of examples of both, so I decided to do a followup on a previous blog on the same topic. Enjoy and learn what to do and, more importantly, not to do, while doing porn and life after.

Paul F. Little AKA Max Hardcore

I consider myself to be an open-minded person and have no problem talking about all kinds of fetishes. I certainly am no fan of prudes shitting on other people’s fun, but some people seem to want to court chaos.

Max Hardcore is a stunning example of this given his brand of porn which intentionally pushes not just what is acceptable, but the health of his performers.

BDSM is cool, I think, but Hardcore made a name for himself by using dental equipment inside of his female performers. Some of his other scenes included having his scene gals eat vomit and drink piss, too.

And rather than attempt to brand it as some form of personal expression, he’s literally called his smut “vile and crazy.” What a genius marketer, eh?

In addition to wearing out his performers one after another, Max got such a bad reputation in the adult industry that no one of note would not work with him come the late nineties. However, the big thing that got him trouble was when he shot a scene with a girl who was supposed to be an actual m*nor.

To be fair, the performer was definitely of age, but be he was still charged with selling k*ggy porn.

Is it technically a bullshit charge? I think so.

But when you portray a performer as being underage, you are just asking for trouble from the government. He was acquitted on the charge of ch*ld smut but still got locked up on obscenity charges.

Again, I think the idea of obscenity laws are bullshit, but karma bit this guy in the ass after he was released from prison. To be specific, in the early ’10s, Hardcore tried to get back into the industry.

Obviously, he wasn’t exactly welcomed with open arms by other porn producers and hasn’t been listed as a director by anyone since ‘13.

Pierre Fitch

fitch

This guy is an OG gay performer who got his start right around the time high-speed internet came around. Starting out as a twink-type guy, Fitch transitioned into a muscle stud over the years and got a ton of work through the aughts.

And he wasn’t just limited to working with gutter sites either.

I wasn’t able to track down every studio he’s been in – because there are so many. I did manage to find out he’s performed for some of the top studios like Lucas Entertainment, Falcon Studios, Men.com, among others.

Over the years, he’s directed several movies and starred or co-starred in some arthouse erotica as well. After getting drilled on camera for so long, Fitch was eventually picked as one of the first Fleshjack boys, too.

Technically, he still is doing sex work as a cam model, but last I checked Fitch hadn’t done too much porn in the last few years. Mostly these days, he’s been doing indie work with other performers on his OnlyFans page.

But more than that, he’s done semi-softcore modeling, product promotion, and traveled the world as a composer and DJ. He’s even been featured in a couple of documentaries and got a part in a comedy series.

Bryan Matthew Sevilla AKA James Deen

deen

My, how the mighty have fallen.

But before we get into the Fall, let’s look at the Rise of this (once) prolific porn star.

Most young people imagine being lawyers, firefighters, or astronauts. Deen wanted to be in porn since he was a kid (!) – or at least, so he says. He made good on that ambition and joined up in the business when he turned eighteen, specializing in doing it with older ladies.

Half a decade later, Deen not only won the “Male Performer of the Year” award and gained a following with other women. Indeed, he has ever since then been considered to be the boy next door of straight porn.

Over the years, he wracked up even more awards and had the opportunity to have sex with some of the hottest women in porn, including Asa Akira, Farrah Abraham, Rachel Roxxx, and Anikka. Further,

And unlike so many porn performers who often get pigeonholed into the industry, Deen got the attention of mainstream magazines. Furthermore, he did a non-nude movie, The Canyons, in 2013 with Lindsey Lohan. It’s even rumored that he got offers for even more Hollywood work, which Deen turned down because he liked doing porn so much.

So, you’d think that a guy who’s been in 3,300 scenes, made buckets of money, and gotten super famous would be set for life.

Too bad he fucked his career up in the worst way possible.

Starting in 2015, a series of r*pe and abuse accusations came out against him, beginning with Stoya, followed by Joanna Angel. A bunch of other porn performers came out with similar stories, which seemed to be true.

The boy next door then became the “Bill Cosby of porn.”

I’m not one to just #BelieveAllWomen, but I think I’ve seen this movie before and how it ends. When this number of accusers come forward, at least a few of them are telling the truth.

As a result, The Frisky got rid of his column, and Evil Angel, HardX.com, and Kink broke ties with him, too.

#Cancelled

He’s still getting work in the business and elsewhere, but I don’t think his reputation will ever recover.

Ashlyn Gere

ashlyn

In Part 1, I mentioned that Sasha Grey was not the first, but the most notable example of a porn star going into mainstream entertainment. Technically, there are loads of people who have done some nude work going back decades before getting into ‘legitimate’ movies, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Karen Lancaume, Jackie Chan, and maybe most famously, Marilyn Monroe.

However, in all of those cases, they were never super famous for their erotic work. Shit, most people don’t even know that three of those actors ever did adult work.

It’s also worth pointing out that a lot of people who have worked in the mainstream did pornos before the internet took off.

Ashlyn Gere is an exciting exception, or at least she used to be. If you haven’t heard of her, I’m sure you know one of the super successful series that she often got roles in The X-Files starting in ’94. Before that, she already got roles in low-budget sci-fi movies in the ’80s.

But in the middle of that time period and beyond, Gere was a pretty dang successful adult film star. Having been in 200 movies starting in 1990 and touring as an erotic dancer, she got a massive following and won her tons of awards.

Even after her career as a porn performer became public in the late nineties, that didn’t stop Ashlyn from still getting good television and Hollywood work throughout the decade and the beginning of the next.

I guess that means we could call her a kind of switch hitter and not just because she’s been in straight and lesbian scenes.

She’s kept a low-profile since 2003, apparently living as a married real estate agent and a mother. However, just a quick google search will prove this luscious lady still has a fan base to this day.

Hunter Moore

hunter

A lot of people know him as the most hated man on the internet.

Moore has called himself a professional life ruiner.

I just think of him as douchebag supreme.

Back in 2010, Moore thought it was a good idea – who knows why (?) – to hack into people’s computers. But rather than steal money, he took off with people’s sexual photos and posted them to his site IsAnyoneUp.com.

This is probably one of the reasons that revenge porn became a thing, and was something that Moore seemed to revel in. Of course, his victims asked him to take their material down to which Moore would reply simply with LOL.

In response to one woman who confronted him directly, he straight-up stabbed her in the shoulder. In another stroke of “brilliance,” he thought it might be a great notion to pick a fight with one James McGibney. Not only was McGibney a web entrepreneur who runs some anti-bullying websites and a former Marine. Moore called him a pedo and even threatened to r*pe his wife.

Yeah, this guy’s brain is firing on all cylinders. *eye-roll*

McGibney sued him into the ground and ended up winning a $250,000 lawsuit. Furthermore, as you might think, the feds came down hard on him in the form of a massive FBI investigation.

You might think that someone in this position would hire a lawyer and keep their head down — not so with this idiot. As people began to turn on and expose him during the investigation, he threatened to kill a guy he worked for and burn down a media outlet who wrote about his activities.

Despite his #winning attitude, all of the shit he stirred caught up to him about a year and a half ago. Moore pleaded guilty to hacking and ID theft, then got slapped with a sentence and a half million dollar fine.

Last I checked, he got out of prison in 2017 and seemed to have disappeared from public life.

Out of curiosity, if anyone knows what rock Hunter is hiding under, let me know.

Lisa Ann

lisa

One of the most legendary ladies in living memory to ascend to porn star super-status has one helluva history.

Lisa Ann entered the industry in ‘94 and did some great work with good producers. However, she never really got recognized for reasons I cannot imagine.

Three years later, she backed out during an AIDS flare-up, and managed a spa by day and stripped by night. Fortunately for her and all of us, she got back in 2006, and her career really took off.

I’m sure as most of you know, Lisa is best known for her starring role in Who’s Nailin’ Paylin. Her work in this film not only boosted the hell out of her brand but won the title a couple of awards.

It also got the ire of conservatives who floated the idea of taking legal action against the film’s makers. One of them, Megyn Kelly, claimed that no American would want to see it. In fact, she even got a spot on Entertainment Tonight to get publicity for her movie.

Obviously, they failed to do shit, and this movie was the smut sensation of 2008 globally. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend that you do.

Riding on her success as the epitome of a MILf, she continued to making and market mature movies. A year later, Ann started directing movies and even set up her own studio. Like every pornstar aspires to be, she got her bits molded and turned into a mass marketing Fleshlight and mechanized vagina in 2009.

From that year until 2016, she won another sixteen adult industry awards.

Cum back kid, indeed.

During the next decade, she stepped away from the industry, but that didn’t stop her from getting work. To give just a few examples, she played a character in the series Billions, voice acted in Grand Theft Auto V, and was featured in the docu Aroused.

What she was most known for was becoming a podcast and sports radio personality. And unlike Mia Khalifa, she managed to make that career path work for her.

Once again, she started making adult movies in 2018 but seems to have only stayed for a couple of years.

Supposedly, she’s permanently stopped doing porn, but as we know, she’s come back to make us all cum before. Who knows? Maybe she’ll make a return to the business again.

Larry Flynt & Dwaine B. Tinsley

flyn

This is a pair who really step in it, but Tinsley really went over the edge.

To be fair, Larry Flynt was and is unquestionably a pioneer in porn. I’ve written about him before, but I’ll sum up his (initially) illustrious career. Having saved up some money in 1965, he bought and built up one bar then two others.

Once he became liquid again, Flynt turned the establishments into the epic Hustler Club. This strip club blew up in no time at all and really marked the start of Flynt’s legend.

To compete with more tame, high-profile magazines like Playboy, Flynt started his own magazine, which would be super explicit and have no pretense. In fact, he was probably the first publisher to expressly show between-me-down their shots totally uncensored.

So far, so good, right?

Well, Larry and his signature publication ran into a shitstorm after hiring Dwaine B. Tinsley, the creator of the infamous character Chester the Molester. This completely tasteless comic strip ran for thirteen years and immediately put Flynt in the legal hot seat.

Both of them ended up in court and jail a few different times on obscenity and ch*ld molestation charges. While Flynt apparently was not, accusations of being a k*ddy fiddler against Tinsley have turned out to be true.

Tinsley died in Y2K, and the new revelations against him have only come out, so may he rot in pieces.

Karenjit Kaur Vohra AKA Sunny Leone

Sunny leone

Wowzer, this woman has one of the biggest pedigrees I’ve ever seen. And that’s compared to just about every other porn star I’ve blogged about in the last several months!

Why work at Jiffy Lube, when you can get paid to lube a jiffy? Apparently, that’s what Sunny Leone was thinking after working at an auto shop and a few other pedestrian jobs a couple of decades ago. Near the start of the 21st century, she took off being featured in Penthouse and Hustler magazine.

This led to her rising through the ranks along with other now industry giants like Tera Patrick and landed her a multi-year contract with Vivid. Since then, she’s performed in dozens of videos for an impressive number of studios and locations all over the world.

As her star rose, she got even better work, such as starring the epic Debbie Does Dallas…Again. Over the years, she managed to land over 111 videos and is accredited with directing 61 movies.

Unfortunately, some people did not exactly approve of her career choice.

If you thought people lost their minds when Mia Khalifa and Belle Knox were found out to be porn stars, Sunny saw some equally bizarre backlash. Granted, she wasn’t getting death threats from classmates or terrorists, but women in India thought her work was “destroying” Indian culture.

Some Indians even went as far as to try to get local ISPs to block her work, and when Sunny traveled to Bangalore for a festival, some protestors threatened to commit mass suicide. Who knows if they would have followed through with it, but Leone was denied permission to show for the event.

Keep in mind; all this stupid drama went down five years after she stopped doing porn!

Unfortunately, Leone quit the skin biz in 2013, and it doesn’t look like she’s going to pull a Lisa Ann. However, she did do some additional modeling and even ranked as one of BBC’s top 100 women three years later.

While in porn and well after, Leone has landed all sorts of television and movie roles in the United Kingdom and the United States. While nothing ever came of it (at first), there was also an Indian director who wanted her to play in some Bollywood roles.

Plus, she was featured in several magazines, including a conservative outlet Forbes! How many other performers have or even now can get that kind of attention?

It looks like now that Sunny has been doing her own writing on the side, and performing in music videos. Plus, she is reconsidering doing Indian films. One of them is a Punjabi take on Romeo and Juliet, so maybe we might get to see some of her gorgeous goodies in the future once again.

ThePornDude’s final words

You can probably most of these performers work on the best premium porn sites on the net. Besides those, there are amateur platforms that you might want to check out to see how the new wave of performers is getting their start.

Did these stories, or rather half of them, inspire you to get into the skin business? If so, there are some great resources out there that give you a series of hints on how to become the next big name in porn.

But I would recommend my extensive article on what you should know and how to succeed in porn. And if my tips help you make it in the business, let me know right away. We might be able to do an interview or even a promotional post about your best scenes.

Believe me; I look forward to seeing all of your work. 😉
