Do you ever get tired of going to the same kinds of porn sites, day in and day out, year after year? Every day it’s the same exact thing: go to your favorite free porn tube site, spend some time browsing the recent uploads, pick a video, and get down to business. After a while, it can start to feel more like a mundane daily activity and less like the fun that fapping is supposed to be! Watching porn should never come to the point where it feels like a tedious task. It should be exciting, right, like it was when you first discovered porn?
Absolutely. But after browsing site after site after site, trying out new things, checking out different directions, it almost starts to seem like there are only so many different types of porn sites out there, like nobody’s doing anything different. It starts to seem like every site—regardless of whether it’s a porn tube, an aggregator site, a search engine, or a premium pay site—is essentially the same thing: a bunch of thumbnails to choose from with hundreds of pages to click through.
Hey, don’t get the wrong idea, I am not complaining at all about the fact that we have nearly an infinite amount of porn to choose from nowadays. The internet is definitely a beautiful fucking thing when it comes to helping us see some beautiful fucking things, if you know what I mean. But, damn, where’s the sense of innovation and creativity that has always fueled the adult entertainment industry since its inception? Have we all just become complacent with this model of porn site?
I mean, on the one hand, I suppose if it ain’t broke, there’s no real need to fix it, right? But it would still be nice to have a little bit more variety when it comes to the kinds of porn sites out there and the site design possibilities. But, hey, maybe it’s all been done before. Maybe there are no new formats or templates left to be created.
Well, that is certainly not true. There is one site that I found that gives me hope for the future and versatility of how we consume free porn on the internet. And that site is K18.co. K18 has decided to abandon the typical, cliché ways of providing free porn, and I think that this choice has definitely paid off.
Could a Porn Site Ever Win the Pulitzer?
From the moment you land on K18’s home page, you will notice that it looks nothing like the porn tubes or porn aggregator sites that you are used to. Actually, if the images depicted on the page weren’t of chicks choking down giant cocks and getting bent over railings and railed in the ass, it could almost look like an online news publication. K18’s site design is, if nothing else, a breath of fresh air.
A white background and links to what look like articles at a glance were opted for over the usual black background and simple gallery of thumbnails and captions that dominates 99% of porn sites today. It’s got a very minimalistic look to it, K18, which I love. Plus, the fact that it sort of resembles a news site makes me feel almost like I’m doing something useful with my time.
When, in reality, all I’m doing is just spewing cum from my dick into a napkin to be balled up and flushed down the toilet. Well, and I am making myself feel good in the process. That is important as well. Maybe not newsworthy, but important. This just in: Man Faps Himself to Satisfaction in Bedroom; Porn Suspected to have Aided Him. See what I mean?
Maybe it is a mistake on my behalf to even differentiate between K18 and a news site. Maybe it would be more accurate to call K18 a porn news site. Every time a major porn studio releases a new scene, K18 is there with the inside scoop. “The Inside Scoop,” that wouldn’t be a bad name for a newsroom themed porno; feel free to use it (just give me a 5% royalty).
Oh, wait, I just thought of how it could be better: “Deepthroat: The Inside Scoop.” Now the movie is set in 1972 and someone has to wear a Richard Nixon mask. Now that’s Gonzo journalism at its best. Okay, I’m done. Don’t forget to send me my royalty checks, though, fucker.
So, anyway, when you click on a video (or a story, whatever you want to call it), you will be brought to a new page which has an in-depth description of the scene and a link to watch or download it via Openload. It also comes complete with tags and a comments section below the giant screenshot link. To the right of the link is a list of recent comments made elsewhere on the site, on other videos, as well as a few friendly links (The Porn Dude included *fist bump*), and a quick access categories dropdown menu.
That’s not the only place that you’ll find me making a special guest cameo on K18, though. They’ve given me a banner at the bottom of the site, and I’m up in the menu bar as well. The porno journalists of K18 clearly have good taste in websites, that much I can say for sure. And it is an honor to be so prominently featured on a site that is so well designed and executed, and that is doing something really different from the rest of the online adult world.
Awesome, Minimalistic Site Design
Instead, they are purely text and separated into lists by letter. I rather like this setup because I feel like it makes for a cleaner, more organized looking website design. There’s just something amateurish about a site that just throws a bunch of thumbnails together and labels them underneath for a categories section. I don’t know. This can be done tastefully, sure, but that is rarely the case. K18, I think, made the right choice with the text list here.
K18’s “Tags” section is designed almost identically to the “Categories” section. The only notable difference, really, being that there are many more tags than there are categories, naturally. If you want to find a particular porn star, the tags section of the site is where you will likely have the most luck, as they are all tagged. Do I wish that K18 provided a separate section for porn stars? Kind of, yeah. It would just make browsing that much easier.
Am I going to lose sleep about the fact that I have to find them in the tags? No, definitely not. Especially since there is a search bar as well to allow for quick searches if I’m looking for a particular girl. It would be nice, though, I suppose if, keeping in the spirit of journalistically influenced porn sites, there were pages specifically dedicated to the girls who make all of this magic happen in the first place. Maybe somewhere down the line, K18? We’ll see.
A Few Notes for Improvement
Do I have any complaints about the site? Well, other than the missing porn stars section, there are a couple things. I would like to see K18 embrace a little bit more the whole news site element that they seem to have going on in their design. Maybe they could add a news section—give us some exclusive interviews, update us on the happenings of particular girls and studios, announce upcoming scenes … nothing crazy, but I think that could be really cool. And I would immediately make K18 my home page if they added that element.
Other than that, I would love to see them chill it a bit with the ads. But, you know me, I’m never going to let that one slide. I also don’t think that adding some community features beyond commenting would hurt their cause at all. You know, let us vote on videos, maybe add them to playlists, possibly communicate with other K18 lovers.
All in all, though, I am very impressed with K18. I think that it’s great how they’ve sort of reinvented the wheel and made it look much better. K18 has a professional, mature feel to it that most other porn sites definitely seem to be missing. Let’s see if they take me up on that call to embrace their journalistic side a little bit more. Either way, there are many things they’re doing right. Keep up the good work, K18!
